A national professional body working in the public interest, FP Canada is dedicated to fostering better financial health for Canadians by leading the advancement of professional financial planning in Canada. There are approximately 23,000 professional financial planners in Canada who have met and who continue to meet, FP Canada's standards.

FP Canada operates through two divisions: the FP Canada Standards Council and the FP Canada Institute

The FP Canada Standards Council's role is to establish and enforce financial planning standards, set the certification requirements for professional financial planners and develop and deliver certification examinations. The FP Canada Standards Council ensures FP Canada certificants - Certified Financial Planner® professionals and FPSC Level 1® Certificants in Financial Planning (which will transition to the QAFP designation on January 1, 2020) - meet appropriate standards of competence and professionalism through rigorous requirements of education, examination, experience and ethics.

The role of the FP Canada Institute is to elevate financial planning through the provision of professional education programs and other products and services that will enhance financial planning practice.
